Earlier this year, I deemed Merlin to be a show that you might not be watching, but should. It's a BBC show about young Merlin (Colin Morgan) and Prince Arthur (Bradley James). Series 2 was far better than the first, and series 3 is looking even better (at least by the trailers). We left series 2 with Morgana (Katie McGrath) possibly being killed by Merlin, but Morgause (Emilia Fox) disappeared with her, so we really don't know. We were also left knowing that Merlin has a lot more power than he thought, being the last Dragon Lord, after a heartbreaking scene when he lost his newly found father. His new powers allowed him to take control of the Great Dragon (that he released on to Camelot) and send him away--all of this without showing his powers to Arthur or the rest of Camelot.
The new series starts a year later, King Uther (Anthony Head) is desperately looking for Morgana, his ward. Though we see by the trailers that he does find her, we are left to wonder how evil is this girl, and should Uther be so happy the she has been found?
Merlin Series 3 begins on BBC on Saturday, September 11th at 7:25. This does those of us in the states no good...SyFy has said that it will show Merlin Series 3 in early 2011. Frankly, I will be looking for it online each week after it airs in the UK. That is how I watched series 2...They really should be showing them at the same time! I think that there would be more viewers in the states, since I know a lot of people do what I do! Needless to say, if you want to watch the new series as it airs in the UK, check out sidereel.com.
